Programs
Nutritious Meals
At Sweet Briar Child Development Center, our food program is an integral part of our commitment to nurturing young minds. Included in the cost of tuition, we provide a daily breakfast, snack, and lunch. Our onsite chef prepares fresh and nutritious meals every day, ensuring that all food is bought fresh and crafted to support healthy diets. Our thoughtfully prepared menus are designed to establish well-balanced eating habits for children, fueling their growth and development with the best nutrition possible.
If your child has food allergies or special dietary preferences please let us know so we may accommodate their needs.
Our Students
Young Toddlers (Seedlings)
Toddlers are encouraged to participate in daily routines to develop self-help skills and foster self-esteem. Educational activities provide opportunities for experiences that help children develop social-emotional, language, and motor skills. Teachers reinforce positive behaviors, set limits, and are consistently available to support the toddler’s need for independence and exploration.
Toddlers (Sprouts & Sweet Peas)
Our older toddlers are provided with abundant opportunities to increase vocabulary, develop problem solving skills, and be creative through developmentally-appropriate curriculum. Indoor and outdoor activities strengthen fine and gross motor skills. A love of reading is fostered through stories and daily literacy activities.
Preschool (Bluebonnets)
Preschoolers’ growth and development is strengthened through art activities, sensory play, and manipulative toy work. Books and print are used to increase familiarity with the meaning of letters and words. Teachers also use rhymes, finger plays, and songs to introduce phonetic awareness and letter recognition.
Pre-Kindergarten (Snapdragons)
Children develop writing, phonetic awareness, letter recognition and math skills in small and large group activities. Teachers use highly-acclaimed Scholastic Curriculum as a foundation for their classroom. Social and emotional development continues to mature by fostering positive self-esteem, empathy, and independence.
Curriculum
At Sweet Briar CDC conversational Spanish and Spanish vocabulary are focused on within all of our classrooms. Our mission is to prepare students for the increasingly bilingual community that we are honored to be a part of here in Austin.
Based on Texas Rising Star standards, our curriculum model focuses on four areas of child development: social-emotional, cognitive, language, and physical-motor development. We strive to meet each child where they are to further their development in each area at his or her individual pace.
At Sweet Briar Child Development Center, we use the Frog Street curriculum to meet the needs of diverse learners while supporting all developmental learning domains. This engaging, interactive pre-kindergarten curriculum celebrates the joy of learning as children travel down the road to success. Frog Street is a comprehensive, research-based curriculum that integrates instruction across developmental domains and learning disciplines, designed for our infant and toddler program.
On a day-to-day basis, you can expect your child to engage in a wide range of activities, including song, dance, mathematics, dramatic play, science, outdoor activities, coding, arts and crafts, reading, writing, and much more. These activities are carefully crafted to maximize their development and ensure a joyful learning experience.
Conscious Discipline is an additional curriculum used to future enrich our program in social emotional development . It gives children tools to be able to identify their emotions and self regulate which is a vital component in having good mental health.
Children are assessed twice a year and parent conferences scheduled to discuss. Assessments are an important tool teachers use to better know their students, know where children are in their learning and development and customize instruction to meet the child’s needs.
